Valakai Masiyal/ Raw Banana podimas

Generally i make only valakai stir fry. My MIL taught me this masiyal. We can also do this recipe in karna kelangu too.

Ingrediens:

  • For Grinding:
    1. Red Chilly - 4
    2. Coriander seeds - 1 tbsp
    3. Urad dal - 1/2 tbsp
    4. Fennel seeds - 1/2 tbsp
    5. Tamarind - 1 tsp
    6. Jaggery - 1 tsp
    7. Coconut - 1/4 cup

  • Others:
    1. Raw Banana - 2
    2. Onion - 1
    3. Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
    4. Curry leaves - 5
    5. Salt to taste


Cooking Instructions:

  1. Pressure cook raw banana with skin for 2 whistles. Mash it.
  2. Dry roast red chilly, coriander seeds, urad dal, fennel seeds and coconut.
  3. Grind roasted ingredients along with tamarind and jaggery.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds.
  5. Add Onion and saute till it turn translucent.
  6. Add the mashed banana and salt.
  7. Add the ground powder and cook for 5 to 6 mins.
  8. Serve hot with steam rice.
