Aloo Palak

Green leaves are recognized as one of the functional foods for its nutritional anti-oxidants. During my childhood days my mom used to make it thrice in a week like keerai kadaisal, keerai poriyal. Here i'm not getting all varieties of leaves. Everywhere i can get is palak. Generally, i make palak paneer. For a change, i tried this aloo palak and its yummy.

Ingredients:

  1. Palak - 1 bunch
  2. Onion - 1
  3. Tomato - 1
  4. Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
  5. Baby potato - 10
  6. Red chilly powder - 1 tsp
  7. Garam Masala - 1 tsp
  8. Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  9. Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  10. Cinnamon Stick - 1 inch
  11. Salt to taste

Cooking Instructions:

  1. Boil and peel the potatoes. Poke it using fork or knife.
  2. Boil water and add palak along with little sugar. Switch off the flame and cover it for a couple of min. Drain the water and run through cold water to retain its color.
  3. Once cooled grind it smoothly.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and saute onion till translucent.
  5. Add tomato and cook till mushy. Switch off the flame. Grind it smoothly.
  6. Heat oil in a pan and add bay leaves, cinnamon and cumin seeds.
  7. Add ginger garlic paste and stir till raw smell goes.
  8. Add the onion tomato paste.
  9. Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt.
  10. Add palak and cook for 5 mins. If needed sprinkle water.
  11. Add potatoes and garam masala. Stir it nicely. Cook for 3 to 4 mins.
  12. Serve hot with roti.
