Mutton Kurma/ Mutton Gravy/ Mutton Curry/ Lamb curry

This recipe is a perfect side dish for idly, dosa and idiyappam. My mom used to make this dish on every sunday's.


Ingredients:

  1. For Grinding:

    1. Cinnamon stick - 1 inch
    2. Cloves - 2
    3. Cardamom - 2
    4. Star anise - 1
    5. Peppercorns - 1 tbsp
    6. Cumin - 1 tbsp
    7. Fennel seeds - 1 tbsp
    8. Green chilly - 1
    9. Coconut - 1/4 cup


  2. For Gravy:
    1. Mutton - 1/2 kg
    2. Small Onion - 12 to 15
    3. Tomato - 2 
    4. Ginger garlic paste - 1& 1/2 tbsp
    5. Mint leaves - 10 to 12 leaves
    6. Red chilly powder - 1 tsp
    7. Coriander powder - 2 tsp
    8. Salt to taste


Cooking Instructions:

  1. Pressure cook mutton with Ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, salt and little water for 7 whistles.
  2. Grind everything mentioned under for grinding.
  3. Heat oil in a pan.
  4. Add onion and saute till translucent.
  5. Add ginger garlic paste and cook till raw smell goes.
  6. Add Mint leaves and tomato. Cook till mushy.
  7. Add red chilli powder, coriander powder and salt.
  8. Add the ground paste and cook for 8 to 10 mins. Add little water.
  9. Add the mutton stock and cook for 2 to 3 mins.
  10. Add the mutton pieces. Cover and cook for 10 mins.
  11. Add Coriander leaves and switch off the flame.
  12. Serve hot with idly, dosa.
