Drumstick poriyal/ Drumstick Masala

Being high in nutrients and tasty in nature, Drumstick also helps in building strong bones, purifying blood, lowers blood sugar levels, protects against infection and digestion.
It is a well known vegetable so no need any further benefits. It is an everyday usable vegetables in many forms. My mom used to keep sambar often in drumstick. Here i'm showing drumstick poriyal.

Ingredients:

    • Drumstick 
    • Onion - 1
    • Garlic - 4
    • Red chilly powder - 3/4 tsp
    • Coriander powder - 1 tsp
    • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
    • Salt to taste

  • For Grinding:

    • Coconut - 1/4 cup
    • Fennel seeds - 1 tsp

  • For Tempering:

    • Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
    • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp

Cooking Instructions:

  • Heat oil in a pan and add the ingredients for tempering one after the other.
  • Add garlic and onion and saute till translucent.
  • Add Drumstick, Red chilly powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder and salt.
  • Add half cup of water and cook till drumstick turns tender.
  • Grind coconut and fennel seeds to a smooth paste.
  • Add the ground paste and cook till raw smell goes and water evaporates.
  • Serve hot with rice.
