Prawn thokku is one of my favourite dish for curd rice, rasam rice or simply i can mix it with plain rice. Prawns are high in protein. Weight watchers must be careful in eating them but for kids it is a tasty dish and healthy too. Let's see how to do it:
Prawn Thokku
Cooking Time : 20 mins
Ingredients:
Prawn Thokku Cooking Time : 20 mins
- Small Size Prawn - 15
- Small Onion - 10
- Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
- Tomato - 1
- Red chilly powder - 3/4 tsp
- Coriander powder - 3/4 tsp
- Cumin powder - 3/4 tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
- Coconut milk - 1/4 cup
- Gingelly oil - 2 tbsp
- Cumin Seeds - 1/4 tsp
- Curry leaves - a sprig
- Salt to taste
Cooking Instructions:
- Wash the prawns and pat dry.
- Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds and curry leaves. Allow it to splutter. Add onion and saute till translucent. Add Ginger garlic paste and saute till raw smell goes.
- Add the spice powders and salt. Now add the coconut milk.(I added 1/4 cup of water + 1 tsp coconut powder). Cook for 4 to 5 mins. Add prawns and cook in simmer for 8 mins.
- Serve hot with rice.
