  • Divide the grey color dough into 
    • for body (Bigger in size)
    • Head 
    • 4 legs
    • 2 ears
    • 1 tail
  • 2 small pink color for inner side of the ears
  • Use tooth pick for body, head joining.


Chettinad Chicken Gravy

We rarely used to buy chicken because my husband loves only barbeque chicken and not much the other recipes in chicken. So, we mostly avoid that. In recent days, 'K' always say chicken chicken chicken.... so we started getting it for him. He loves chicken drumstick a lot. Yet, yummy it is deep fried so i promise him to make lollipops once in a couple of weeks. Alternatively, i made this one day and he likes the gravy. Now, here is the step by step procedure:

Mutton uppu kari

I have posted 'N' no of mutton recipes since 'S' loves mutton and he wants to try different varieties. This one is another dry recipe belongs to chettinad samayal. As the name says, the main ingredients are mutton and salt. It is a very simple recipe which can be done in 20 mins.

Mutton Chukka Varuval

The word chukka refers to dry curry. My Husband loves mutton. Usually i'll do biryani or gravy in mutton. But for longtime, i want to try the dry version of mutton. One day 'S' bought boneless mutton and came. I really don't want to spoil the pieces by adding in biryani. I serched for boneless recipes. Then finally i found mutton chukka. The original recipe calls for more spicy but, I always prefer mild spiciness, but you can adjust accordingly.

Instant Pot Rava Kesari

'K' is fond of sweets. After Instant pot came into my kitchen i don't want to use the other utensils. It makes my cooking more simple and ease. There is no need for baby sitting, stirring continuously or worry of scorching at the bottom. So today i tried rava kesari in the same way i do in stove top and really the flavour and taste is better than anything else. Here is the procedure:

Ennai Kathirikai/ Oil Brinjal Stir fry

This recipe i learned from my MIL. She is a pure vegetarian so i learned most of my vegetable stir fry and kuzhambu varieties from her. The original recipe calls for without onion but i tried with onion.

Baby potato fry

Kids all time favourite is potato fry. They enjoy the size and the texture of this roast. It is a best combo for all rice varieties and goes well with the lunch box menu.

Veggie fried momos

Some kids hate veggie but at the same time they love all the fried and fast foods.Both adult and kids love this snack and it is healthy too. I made this in all purpose flour. If you're looking for more healthy option yo can replace half quantity of apf with whole wheat flour. Let's see the step by step procedure:

Prawn thokku is one of my favourite dish for curd rice, rasam rice or simply i can mix it with plain rice. Prawns are high in protein. Weight watchers must be careful in eating them but for kids it is a tasty dish and healthy too. Let's see how to do it:

Beans Poriyal/ Egg Beans Poriyal

Being a mom is a tough job and it becomes 200% tough when it comes to feeding the kid. It is necessary to initiate healthy eating in home. But everyone in home has their own taste. If one likes egg the other likes veggie. It is difficult to cook separate for each and everyone. So i'll inherit my cooking by adding egg in cooked veggie. Hence satisfied both of them. Vendakkai Bajji/ Lady's Finger Bajji

My MIL makes bajji in vegetables like lady's finger, brinjal, raw banana, ooty milagai, potato. She is an expert in making snacks. I love the vada she do with ragi and drumstick leaves. She always do something for evening tea snack. My husband wants me to be in the same way. During my early days of cooking i hate to cook and got irritated easily only because of his tastebud and comparison with his mother's cooking. Later i learned the recipes from her. Today let's see how to do lady's finger bajji. For this we need a small size lady's finger.

Vazhakkai Varuval/ Vazhakkai Poriyal/ Raw Banana stir fry

Vazhakkai varuval is another vegetable same as potato and kids love it when we stir fry it. It is a nice combo for curd rice, rasam rice.

Vazhakkai Bajji/ Raw Banana Bajji

Vazhakkai Bajji is a favourite evening snack with tea. My MIL used to do this snack for any auspicious day especially on pongal and diwali. It is a very easy and quick recipe which can be done within 10 mins. I added a tbsp of  idly dosa batter to the bajji batter to increase the crispiness.

Thakkali thokku/ Tomato thokku/ Instant pot Tomato thokku

Thakkali thokku - It is an excellent side dish for rice, idly, dosa and chapati. It is a great dish for working ladies. you can refrigerate it for a week. We used to go for a picnic twice in a year in my childhood days. My mom prepare this thokku along with idly, chapati during the trip as we can't expect home food while travelling. It stays good for 3 to 4 days without refrigerate. Now let's learn how to make this thokku in a simple and easy way.

Paasi paruppu payasam/ Moong dal kheer/ Payatham paruppu payasam

Generally, lentils are good for health and it has lot of protein. I always ask my mom to prepare this payasam if someone is for lunch. During festivals this is one of the mandatory recipe in my home. My mom used to do it with jaggery but i go with sugar. If you are looking for healthy version you can add jaggery instead of sugar. Try this yummy payasam and i'm sure you'll love it.

Radish greens poriyal/ Mullangi keerai poriyal

Radish greens are an excellent source of vitamin c, calcium and protein same as other types of green leaves. we can cook it in the same way as other leaves.

Drumstick poriyal/ Drumstick Masala

Being high in nutrients and tasty in nature, Drumstick also helps in building strong bones, purifying blood, lowers blood sugar levels, protects against infection and digestion.
It is a well known vegetable so no need any further benefits. It is an everyday usable vegetables in many forms. My mom used to keep sambar often in drumstick. Here i'm showing drumstick poriyal.

Fish Kuzhambu


I wanted to post this fish kuzhambu recipe long back but always i forgot to take photos in a hurry.
This time i bought fish in a weekday and i got lot of time to do all the preparations. I still remember my early days of cooking fish. Always there would be something missing and most of the time my dustbin eats. Later i found the mistakes and rectified. The main thing is i used to dumb everything immediately one after other and there'll be raw smell. After that i realised "Slow and steady wins the race" is the key in cooking too. And recently my neighbour bought some fish and gave me to cook that for her. She really liked the kuzhambu i gave her the previous day. So, here is the recipe:

Mutton Masala/ Mutton Gravy/ Lamb Gravy/Pressure Cooker mutton masala

My mom specialised in cooking non-veg. I learned most of the mutton and fish recipes from her. I posted how to do Mutton Kuruma for idly, dosa. This recipe is particularly for rice. I made it as a thick gravy but the same procedure is to be followed for mutton sukka too. I didn't evaporated the entire water content inorder to mix it with rice. If you are looking for dry version then you have to cook for little more time so that all the water content in the gravy gets evaporated.

Instant Ragi Sour Porridge/ Kelvaragu koozh

Natural and unrefined cereals like ragi, finger millet, flax seeds, multi-grain cereals and oatmeal are good for weight loss. The health benefits includes weight loss, bone strength, controls diabetes, good source of protein and amino acid, treat anemia, helps digestion, increases lactation and many more.
It is a very good and energetic food for toddlers. It is a high nutrition breakfast and feels fuller for long time.

Mushroom Masala/ Mushroom masala in Instant pot

Mushrooms are low in calories, fat free, cholesterol free. It also includes relief from breast cancer, prostate cancer and diabetes. It helps in weight loss and increases the strength of immune system.
It is necessary for ladies to take mushrooms at-least once in a week. Today i m going to post mushroom masala which can be served as a side dish for roti, naan.


Rose Milk/ Rose milk syrup

My favourite childhood drink during summer is rose milk. I love the color of this drink and taste hmmmmmm yummmmmyyyyyy..... This goes to my after meal menu always in restaurants those days. Yes, we have to borrow ice cubes or chilled water for cool drinks from neighbours during my childhood days. So, rarely i enjoyed this drink in home. In restaurants my first order will be rose milk. Even after getting married my husband used to order this for me without fail. Nowadays 'K' started like this and i can proudly say this to my mom that i'll do this for him in home itself.
I used to make syrup and store it for 10 to 15 days and mix it with chilled milk whenever needs.

Sundakkai Vatha Kuzhambu

Vatha Kuzhambu is one of the compulsory recipe for meals in restaurants and wedding. We can add brinjal, drumstick, sundakkai or manathakali in this recipe or simply add small onion. It is a very easy recipe and can make within 15 to 20 mins. It can serve with plain rice and appalam. I used dried sundakkai. Fresh ones also enhance the taste.

I have already posted how to do mutton biryani in pressure cooker. Today i m going to post how to keep it in dum. This is really a lengthy process and it takes time to cook. Yet, the final outcome is delicious and the taste is similar to the muslim wedding biryani. Perfect biryani needs practise. The main reason i bought Instant pot/ slow cooker is to keep biryani. Now, i cook like a professional if it is biryani. :)

Kumbakonam Kadapa/ Kadappa recipe

Kumbakonam kadappa, a popular side dish for idly and dosa in kumbakonam, hence named. I have never heard about this recipe or name till my marriage. One day my neighbour mentioned it. I searched in net and tried one day. While doing the dish also i was not that much impressed and i done it in doubt only. But once tasted it is really yummy. For those who are boring with usual chutney, sambar for idly, dosa just give a try for this recipe and i am sure you'll get applause from your family.
It is a combination of moong dal sambar and potato kuruma. Now proceeding to the recipe:

Pavakkai Kichadi/ Bitter gourd with yogurt curry

Bitter Gourd is an essential medicine for those who are diabetic. Though it is bitter to taste, it is full of essential nutrients. It makes an essential detoxifier and skin cleanser. Regular intake of bitter herb boost the immune system while removing all unnecessary toxins. 
I have posted bitter gourd fry recipe somedays back. Trust me this curry doesn't have a mild bitter taste too. You can simply serve with plain rice.

Poosanikai Kootu/ Ash Gourd Kootu

Ash gourd is loaded with nutritions and has 96% water. So, if you are looking for losing weight then this vegetable helps to do it faster. After 7 months of pregnancy, it is one of the main diet women should take. Here comes, Ash Gourd kootu:

Valakai Masiyal/ Raw Banana podimas

Generally i make only valakai stir fry. My MIL taught me this masiyal. We can also do this recipe in karna kelangu too.

Mor Kuzhambu

One of the must recipe in most of the south indian wedding's. A very easy and quick recipe with little preparation. We can do this kuzhambu with ash gourd, bottle gourd, lady's finger, drumstick or without any vegetables too. We can also add paruppu urundai in this kuzhambu.

Aloo Palak

Green leaves are recognized as one of the functional foods for its nutritional anti-oxidants. During my childhood days my mom used to make it thrice in a week like keerai kadaisal, keerai poriyal. Here i'm not getting all varieties of leaves. Everywhere i can get is palak. Generally, i make palak paneer. For a change, i tried this aloo palak and its yummy.

This recipe is a perfect side dish for idly, dosa and idiyappam. My mom used to make this dish on every sunday's.

Panner butter masala


For long years, milk and milk products has been most important part of the diet. Paneer is also one of the most important milk products. Apart from being rich in protein and calcium, it helps in weight loss by increasing the fat burning process in the body. It helps in strengthening bones and teeth.

This recipe is one of the most popular dish across all over the country and origin from punjab. My favourite menu list in restaurants. It goes well with butter naan, roti, kulcha. The gravy is tomato based and rich flavours of cashew nuts and evaporated milk.

Bisibelebath / Sambar rice/ Kadhamba Sadham

Bisibelebath is a very popular dish in South India. You can find this menu in every restaurants. with just a little preparation you can make this yummy sambar rice. Brahmins used to make kadhamba sadham in a very similar way but they omit onion and tomato from the recipe. We can make rice and sambar separately and add together or we can cook rice and dal together in cooker and add with the other stuffs. Either way we can do it.
