A very simple recipe which can be done within 10 mins. It goes well with plain rice and gingelly oil or as a side dish with rasam sadham, curd rice. I made this thuvayal whenever someone in my home is affected with cold. It is good for health too.
Ingredients:
- Toor dal - 2 tbsp
- Bengal Gram/Kadalai paruppu - 2 tbsp
- Pepper - 1/2 tsp
- Red chilly - 2
- Coconut - 1 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Hing - a pinch
- Curry leaves - 4
- Oil - 1 tsp
Cooking Instructions:
- Heat oil in a pan.
- Add toor dal and bengal gram. Roast for 3 to 5 mins.
- Add Red chilly and pepper. Roast for a min.
- Add hing and coconut. Roast for 30 sec.
- Allow it to cool completely and grind it coarsely by adding salt and little water at a time.
- Serve with hot rice and gingelly oil.
