I have already posted mutton chukka recipe which is very dry version. This one is madurai style recipe in which mutton coats with onion masala and can be served with white rice and melagu rasam. Lets see the step by step procedure:
Ingredients:
Mutton Peratal

- Mutton - 250gms (Boneless)
- Small Onion - 15 to 20
- Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Red Chilly - 2
- Curry Leaves - A Handful
- Gingelly Oil - 3 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
- Cumin Seeds - 2 tsp
- Peppercorns - 1 tsp
- Coriander Seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Red Chilly - 2
- Curry leaves - a handful
Cooking Instructions:
- Dry roast all the ingredients under roasting & grinding. Allow it to cool completely and grind smoothly.
- Heat oil in a cooker. Add cumin seeds and allow it to splutter. Add red chilly and curry leaves.
- Add onion,turmeric powder and salt. Saute till it turns translucent. Add mutton and saute till it turns brown and leaves water. This'll take 4 to 6 mins. Then add the ground spice powder.
- Add little water. Cover and cook for 8 to 10 whistles.
- Once the pressure dies naturally, open and check the consistency and if it is still juicy then cook till the water evaporates.
