Ponnanganni keerai kootu


Ingredients:

   Ponnanganni keerai kootu                              
      Cooking Time : 30 mins
  • Ponnanganni Keerai - 1 bunch
  • Small Onion - 6 to 8
  • Garlic - 5 cloves
  • Tomato - 1
  • Green chilly - 1
  • Moong Dal - 1/4 cup
  • Tamarind - 1/4 tsp (Optional)
  • Brinjal - 3
  • Salt to taste

    For Tempering:

  • Small onion - 4 to 6
  • Vadagam - 1 (Or)
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Hing - 1/4 tsp
  • Red chilly - 1
  • Oil - 1 tsp

Cooking Instructions:

  • Add dal, onion, garlic, tomato, brinjal and turmeric in a pressure cooker. Pressure cook it for 2 whistles with half cup of water.
  • Remove the lid and add green chilly and leaves. Pressure cook it for 3 whistles. Add salt and Mash it using blender.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add vadagam or tempering ingredients. Once splutter, add onion and saute till translucent. Transfer it to the leaves dal mixture.
  • Serve it with hot rice and appalam.
