Method 1:
- Soak raw rice for 3 hrs. Drain and grind it smoothly by adding 2 tbsp of water. Add cardamom powder and salt in the batter.
- Shred jaggery and melt it using a tbsp or 2 of water. Allow it to cool for sometime and filter it to the batter. Add coconut (shredded) and mix it nicely.
- Allow it to ferment for 2 hrs. Before making appam add baking soda. Heat appe pan and add 1/2 tbsp of ghee in each hole. Then pour the batter, cook till it turn golden brown and turn to the other side using a spoon and do the same.
