Each state in India has their own style of cooking. Brinjal Masiyal is one of the tastiest and easiest dish which goes well with rice and roti. It gives a rich gravy consistency. Let's see how to prepare it:
Ingredients:
- Brinjal/ Egg plant - 1 big or 5 small
- Onion - 1
- Tomato - 1
- Garlic - 6 cloves
- Ginger - 1 inch
- Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
- Coriander powder -1 tsp
- Turmeric powder -1/4 tsp
- Garam Masala - 1 tsp
- Green chilli - 1
- Salt to taste
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Cooking Instructions:
- Chop the brinjal into cubes and immerse into plain water.
- Grind ginger, garlic, 2 tbsp onion, Red chilli powder, Coriander powder, Garam Masala and Turmeric powder to a smooth paste.
- Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds.
- Add Onion and cook till translucent.
- Add the ground paste and cook till raw smell goes by adding little water, so that it'll not get burned.
- Add Tomato and cook till mushy.
- Add brinjal and salt. Cover and cook in medium flame for 10 mins by adding some water.
- Once done mash it nicely.
- Serve with steamed rice or roti.
