Cabbage chutney/ Cabbage thuvayal


Ingredients:

   Cabbage thuvayal                                 
      Cooking Time : 10 mins
  • Cabbage - 1/4 cup chopped
  • Urad dal - 1 tbsp
  • Channa dal - 1/2 tbsp
  • Red chilly - 4 to 5
  • Tamarind - 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Asafoetida - a pinch
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil - 1 tsp

Cooking Instructions:

  • Heat a tsp of oil in a kadai, add chopped cabbage, salt and saute till color changes. Remove and keep it aside.
  • In the same pan, add urad dal, channa dal, red chilly and saute till brown. At last add tamarind, cumin seeds and asafoetida and saute for a min. Allow it to cool completely.
  • Coarsely grind the dal mixture first and finally add cabbage, grind everything by sprinkling a tbsp of water.

  • Serve it with rice, roti. 
  • I added kashmiri red chilly thats why my chutney is bright red in color. You can add normal red chilly and decrease the no: according to your spice.
