Preparation:
- Wash and soak rice and poha together for 1 to 2 hrs. Wash and soak Urad dal and fenugreek seed separately for 1 hr.
- Grind Urad dal to a smooth batter and keep aside. Now grind rice and poha. Mix everything along with salt.
- Allow it to ferment overnight or till done.
- Batter should be little bit watery so adjust the water according to the consistency. You can also add coconut milk instead of water.
- Before making appam, add cooking soda and stir well. Keep aside for 5 mins and not more than that.
- Heat aapa satti, pour a ladle full of batter and rotate the pan so that the batter spread over all the edges evenly.
- Drizzle a drop of oil and cover it. Cook in a medium flame till the sides turn brown and crispy.
- Serve it hot with coconut chutney or coconut milk.
