Saamai Curd Rice

Recently tried kozhukattai with millet and it was a hit. So, tried this curd rice recipe in cookbook comes along with millets. There is no much difference in taste when compared to regular curd rice and a healthy option for lunch too.

Ingredients:

   Saamai Curd Rice                                   
      Cooking Time : 15 mins
  • Saamai - 1/2 cup
  • Curd - 1/2 cup
  • Milk - 3 tbsp
  • Water - 1&1/2 cup
  • Coriander leaves - a handful(Finely chopped)
  • Carrot - 1 tbsp (Shredded)
  • Salt to taste
     To Temper:
  • Oil - 2 tsp
  • Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
  • Red chilly - 2
  • Curry leaves - 1 sprig


Cooking Instructions:

  • Boil Water, add salt and millet. Cook till the millet becomes soft and all the water is absorbed. Allow it to cool for sometime and mash it nicely.
  • Add curd, milk and mix it up well. 
  • Heat oil in a pan and add all the tempering ingredients. Once splutter transfer it to the rice along with carrot and coriander leaves.
  • Serve with small onion,pickle.
